Jesus was born - Merry Christmas

Actually we have to admit that we don't have a clue why the locals say "God was born" (in Spanish: Dios ha nacido"), instead of "Jesus was born". Do you know why?

This is how many balconies are decorated during Christmas time:

A little Christmas Concert took place at Costa Kinder Care in December, just in time before the Christmas holidays.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow ...!

Benalmadena Blog

Well. This is our first post on our brand new blog.
Not our first blog post ever, but the start-off of our new Benalmadena blog.

We moved here to Benalmadena Pueblo about 6 weeks ago. First we lived for a month in a tiny, little 2-BR apartment, which we rented over the Internet. "Special short-term price" for November was reduced to 470  euros.
We rented it for 1 month only, as we wanted to use  it as a base to take a closer look to the village and the area, to visit the International nursery school, to look for  a nice long-term rental apartment, and to decide - if this is the place where we want to live from now on.

Yes! We want!
We love it.

In fact. We fell in love with almost everything here.

We love Benalmadena Pueblo, a small picturesque andalucian town with white-washed town houses and beautiful little streets.
We love the Andalucian flair, the multi-cultural mix of people who are living here and we fell in love with the Andalucian music. The best of all, of course, is that we feel that it is the best place for our 5-year-old son, to grow up, and to learn and study in both languages, Spanish and English.

Initially we wanted to start this blog much earlier, to share our very moments of our new life. As of so much new impressions, and so much to organize, we almost forgot it - but here we go.

On the 2nd of Dec we moved in our new apartment. We rented it long-term, for 11 months, with an option to expand the contract afterwards. This is how most rental contracts will be closed here, as 11 months is considered by Spanish law as a "temporary rental contract", which is the Best for the apartment owners.
Our apartment is on the upper floor in a nice old town house, located in a lovely little pedestrian street - right in the old town center of Benalmadena Pueblo. It is quiet a lot of space, with 2 BR, a living room, a small dining room, the kitchen, the bathroom, and a nice terrace.
As the "crisis" hit Spain extremely hard, almost all rental prices are down. So we had luck, as we are paying 480 Euros per month only, which actually is a very good price for a 2 BR apartment in the old town.

From now on we will share our observations, and parts of our daily life - as much and as often as possible.

We are not new to Spain, nor to the Hispanic culture though. About 10 years ago we moved to the Balearic Islands, we lived a year in Argentina, and now we are back - this time on the Spanish mainland. We visited  many Spanish cities and regions too. Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, the Canary Islands. All of them are beautiful places, but for us they were not the places where we wanted to live.

Once we arrived here at the Costa del Sol in Andalucia, in this tiny beautiful Spanish Pueblo, we had no doubt anymore!

We'll do our best to show you why, and to share our experiences.
Hope you'll enjoy!
